Three Things You Can Do To Stay Afloat Financially
In a time where we're having enough money means more than it has ever did, it is only natural that we try to keep our heads above water so we would still be able to pay off our bills, and be able to still live comfortably during these trying times. Maybe if you look at it more positively, this predicament that we're in is something like a race. We all want to get ahead, but not all of us may have the driving skills or the car to make it to the finish line in pole position.
There are many ways to win a race, and there are even more ways to be able to save money. Doing whatever we have to do to be able to have more savings should be on everyone's minds. Here are a few things we all can do to tighten that belt and patch up that gaping hole in our pockets.
1. Keep your money in the bank so you wouldn't spend it.
Sometimes, having too much cash in your wallet would cause for you to spend a lot more than you regularly do. Whether you use it for food, clothing, a really expensive night out on the town or a little mix of both, the bottom line here is that you end up spending a lot more.
Putting your money in your bank account would help you control your spending a whole lot. Having a whole bunch of money in your wallet is completely different from having to withdraw it from an ATM.
2. Buy something when you really need it, not just because it's on sale.
A lot of people would like to argue that when products go on sale this would be the best time for people to buy whatever it is that they want. The problem here, however, is that sometimes people just overdo it. What we buy out of necessity would end up being something that they buy out of impulse.
You see, when something goes on sale, people tend to experience a sudden felt need for him or her to have to buy that specific item because “it's on sale.” Now there's nothing wrong with that; it's just that why would you have to buy something you don't need in the first place? Buying something on sale that you don't need isn't a bargain, that's an added expense that would eat up from your savings.
3. When you're out on a date with your girlfriend, don't pick up the tab all the time.
Sometimes, being the gentlemen that we are, we oftentimes pay for dates too many times than we ought to that our girlfriends end up getting used to this. If you're incredibly rich that paying for a meal ticket would be junk change to you, then that shouldn't be a problem. If you aren't, then you should seriously think about this. Your girlfriend should have a job, and if she does, she should chip in.
